Explore a Variety of Options:

 Independent Living

Also known as retirement villages, senior apartments, or independent retirement communities. These are amenity-filled, maintenance-free housing options designed for seniors 55 and older. These typically do not offer the higher levels of care found in an assisted living community but offer attractive social aspects, dining, and transportation options, and are popular among seniors who wish to downsize or live freely without the burden of managing a home.

Assisted Living

Assisted living facilities are designed for seniors who are no longer able to live safely on their own. Although residents do not require the high level of care provided in a nursing home, they receive assistance with medications, activities of daily living, meals, social activities, transportation, and housekeeping, all with nursing availability, 24 hours per day.

 Memory Care

Also known as Alzheimer’s Care or Dementia Care, these communities are either located in a separate, secure wing of an assisted living facility or may be an entire community, specifically devoted to the treatment of the disease. Housed in semi-private apartments, residents enjoy structured activities conducted by staff members who are specifically trained to take care and provide support for people with progressive memory loss.

Residential Care Homes

These are homes located in residential areas where residents receive assistance with activities such as bathing, eating, and dressing,. Caregivers also provide them with intensive, long-term medical care. A 24-hour staffed and monitored facility like this is suitable for seniors with more serious health conditions that require a higher level of care and assistance.

In-Home Care

In this setting, home care attendants assist seniors with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. Caregivers also help seniors get access to transportation, pay bills, make it to appointments, and be there to provide companionship and emotional support. Depending on the needs of the senior, services may be provided via weekly visits or through more attentive, 24-hour care.

Respite Care

Temporary care that can provide relief for the usual caregivers. This service can be used for a few hours a week to run errands or a few weeks a year for a much-needed vacation. This can also be used to “test-drive” a facility to determine if it’s a good fit for a long-term stay.
